NOW, LET ME LAY OUT THE SCENE FOR YOU:
My lovely parents are very excited about their new house they built from the ground up. Now this house, is gorgeous, yet it is located south in the small, rural city of Triangle. (Miles from any other civilization, mind you) Anyhow, they finally got the keys and with that, someone had the genius idea to make the massive transition from the old house to the new house...THIS WEEKEND-- smh...the rest of this story is, in short, RIDICULOUS! The first step to disaster....
________________________________________________________
Friday afternoon, I proceed home from a long day at work, only to find that our home has been stripped of all items! TV, beds, dressers, couches, did I mention- TV!? So with that, I asked my lovely step-sister Tish, where everything was and she informed me that the family has moved to Triangle. GREAT- guess I needed to pack up as much as I could and make way down South. MIND YOU: it was already about an inch of snow on the ground...
...So I make it the lovely house in Triangle. Food is out, heat is going, TV's on...we are in business! I guess the hike was worth it after all....or so I thought. We all got settled and went to sleep for the night. Around 6am the next morning, ALL POWER WAS LOST!! Wonderful! So what to do? Well, we still had gas, and food, so hey I figured we would just suck it up til the power came back. Our good electric company VA Dominion Power stated that the power would not return until 5pm SUNDAY evening. Now me, I am thinking: "blizzard, high snow, gas stove, food-- we need you just suck it up and stay here." My father on the other hand had the idea of digging the drive way out and heading back to the Springs where the old house is located. This idea was the second step to disaster!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
We dug the drive way out, mom revved up the engine and make way up the hill. NO BUENO...again...NO BUENO...one more good push.....and we MADE IT! Wahooo! Wait-- no wait-- we made it but we are STUCK directly in the middle of a two lane road, with 5 cars coming in on the right and six cars and a FIRE TRUCK coming in on the left! OMG- seriously?? Stafford County Firemen (Mind you it was bout 7 of them, with 2 cuties) came to pull our car out, along with a few other helpful citizens who were onlookers of this embarrassing moment. NOT TO MENTION: we were stuck RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE HOUSE! Do you think anyone mentioned that was our house?? NOPE, lol! I was so embarrassed, I sat in the back seat and covered my face. You know I look young anyway, so I needed them to think I was a little kid being dragged through this debacle.
We finally are dug out, and mom says "lets just stay." (I'M WITH HER)...nope, Dad got the game coming on, and heat, we are making moves! So we get to the highway. A normally 25min drive, turns into a little over an hour back to the Springs. We get to the main road around our old house. Now the big question was, which road to ride down to get the house, or at least get close to it....this next idea was the 3rd step to disaster...
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
We decide to go down this back road, park the car there and walk the rest of the way. We get half way down the hill- STUCK. Had to dig the car out, got it moving again, finally reach the bottom, and the entire intersection was filled with snow more than 2ft high. Tried to make a U-Turn and go back, STUCK. Dug it out again, got it moving, moved back up the hill, STUCK again. This whole routine went on for about 25 more minutes, until we decided to just dig a spot out and leave the car there. But that idea didn't suffice my father. He decided to call the tow company. So we're digging, waiting for the tow truck. I figure we just leave the car here and try again in the morning (by this time it's around 11pm. Mind you we left Triangle at about 5ish). Tow truck comes and guess what happens? THEY GET STUCK! So they had to call their people to help pull them and US out! By this time, I was frustrated, tired, hungry, and just really in disbelieve that all this was going on!

Mother and I just threw our hands up and decided to walk home as Dad stayed with the tow people. We (ma and I) finally got to the house around 11:45. My dad got home around a hour or so later.
Moral of this story:
I know God blesses us with good fortunes and happiness, and we are OH SO THANKFUL. But as they say: don't test HIM. This same concept goes for Mother Nature. If she says a blizzard is coming, well by golly, you better get your blankets, food, and get comfortable because you are NOT to move until you've weathered the storm. Literally! :-)
Positive point: I got the most exercise and I am super sore today- but I think I lost about 5lbs!
As I look back, it all just seems to be a figment of my imagination...
