Round 2: Change of Location

I'm snowed out in Kentucky now. We received about 6 inches of snow. I was really hoping to leave the white stuff behind but at least I can get in some good play time with my little nephew.

Its all in a Hard Days Work!!

Good Morning, Saints

So Aleia is once again off of work today!
Glad to be off, not so glad to be in the house again. It would be so much better if I was on a beach, swimming with the dolphins and sea turtles. Oh, how marvelous that would have been.

But no, it is Aleia's fate to use someone else's wireless access and boil water to bring moisture in the house (that's an old school remedy to keep the house warm for all you young'ns).
Its all good. We shall see what happens over the next few hours.....after I eat, read, sleep, walk to the couch, eat, watch tv, sleep, walk to the bed, eat, read, sleep again. its all in a hard days work!!

God Bless.

The Great Dig Out Begins

People have finally started digging themselves out and leaving the neighborhood..............on foot. I even ventured out.................made it all the way to the grocery store and then slipped on the ice in the parking lot. SMH I definitely would not have made it to Target like some of my neighbors. More power to them...........I know my limitations.

Please save me from this food!

I need someone to save me from all of this food! LOL Maryam and I made chocolate chip cookies after a long day spent outside. My mom made a cake yesterday................and most of it is gone already. James bought brownie mix and wants me to bake those for him. Not to mention all of the various snack foods and real food in here. Send help please.........my self-control is fading fast. LOL

Cabin Fever Setting In!

I'm just glad that I was able to walk to the 7-11, and back, alive. I'm LOVING the time off work, but I've GOT to get out the house soon. The schedule for tomorrow includes shopping, movies, and Chipotle! Can't go wrong with that.

The Roach Family's Blizzard Disaster!!

NOW, LET ME LAY OUT THE SCENE FOR YOU:

My lovely parents are very excited about their new house they built from the ground up. Now this house, is gorgeous, yet it is located south in the small, rural city of Triangle. (Miles from any other civilization, mind you) Anyhow, they finally got the keys and with that, someone had the genius idea to make the massive transition from the old house to the new house...THIS WEEKEND-- smh...the rest of this story is, in short, RIDICULOUS! The first step to disaster....

________________________________________________________

Friday afternoon, I proceed home from a long day at work, only to find that our home has been stripped of all items! TV, beds, dressers, couches, did I mention- TV!? So with that, I asked my lovely step-sister Tish, where everything was and she informed me that the family has moved to Triangle. GREAT- guess I needed to pack up as much as I could and make way down South. MIND YOU: it was already about an inch of snow on the ground...

...So I make it the lovely house in Triangle. Food is out, heat is going, TV's on...we are in business! I guess the hike was worth it after all....or so I thought. We all got settled and went to sleep for the night. Around 6am the next morning, ALL POWER WAS LOST!! Wonderful! So what to do? Well, we still had gas, and food, so hey I figured we would just suck it up til the power came back. Our good electric company VA Dominion Power stated that the power would not return until 5pm SUNDAY evening. Now me, I am thinking: "blizzard, high snow, gas stove, food-- we need you just suck it up and stay here." My father on the other hand had the idea of digging the drive way out and heading back to the Springs where the old house is located. This idea was the second step to disaster!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We dug the drive way out, mom revved up the engine and make way up the hill. NO BUENO...again...NO BUENO...one more good push.....and we MADE IT! Wahooo! Wait-- no wait-- we made it but we are STUCK directly in the middle of a two lane road, with 5 cars coming in on the right and six cars and a FIRE TRUCK coming in on the left! OMG- seriously?? Stafford County Firemen (Mind you it was bout 7 of them, with 2 cuties) came to pull our car out, along with a few other helpful citizens who were onlookers of this embarrassing moment. NOT TO MENTION: we were stuck RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE HOUSE! Do you think anyone mentioned that was our house?? NOPE, lol! I was so embarrassed, I sat in the back seat and covered my face. You know I look young anyway, so I needed them to think I was a little kid being dragged through this debacle.

We finally are dug out, and mom says "lets just stay." (I'M WITH HER)...nope, Dad got the game coming on, and heat, we are making moves! So we get to the highway. A normally 25min drive, turns into a little over an hour back to the Springs. We get to the main road around our old house. Now the big question was, which road to ride down to get the house, or at least get close to it....this next idea was the 3rd step to disaster...
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We decide to go down this back road, park the car there and walk the rest of the way. We get half way down the hill- STUCK. Had to dig the car out, got it moving again, finally reach the bottom, and the entire intersection was filled with snow more than 2ft high. Tried to make a U-Turn and go back, STUCK. Dug it out again, got it moving, moved back up the hill, STUCK again. This whole routine went on for about 25 more minutes, until we decided to just dig a spot out and leave the car there. But that idea didn't suffice my father. He decided to call the tow company. So we're digging, waiting for the tow truck. I figure we just leave the car here and try again in the morning (by this time it's around 11pm. Mind you we left Triangle at about 5ish). Tow truck comes and guess what happens? THEY GET STUCK! So they had to call their people to help pull them and US out! By this time, I was frustrated, tired, hungry, and just really in disbelieve that all this was going on!
________________________________________________________

Mother and I just threw our hands up and decided to walk home as Dad stayed with the tow people. We (ma and I) finally got to the house around 11:45. My dad got home around a hour or so later.

Moral of this story:

I know God blesses us with good fortunes and happiness, and we are OH SO THANKFUL. But as they say: don't test HIM. This same concept goes for Mother Nature. If she says a blizzard is coming, well by golly, you better get your blankets, food, and get comfortable because you are NOT to move until you've weathered the storm. Literally! :-)

Positive point: I got the most exercise and I am super sore today- but I think I lost about 5lbs!

As I look back, it all just seems to be a figment of my imagination...

*~THE END~*

Let operation rescue Tish begin!.....thanks Parker!!

He's the bestest big brother ever!!!....sure gonna miss that guy! (tear)

My Church Sevice today!

My Church Service today, i.e. between 7:45 and 10:30, was spent kicking and scraping snow from around my car. Yes, I said kicking and scraping because my neighbors were using the snow shovel at the time.

However, because the snow was so deep and it really wouldn't have been intelligble for me to where my 4 inch heels outside, I had to sit on top of the snow to clean the snow off of the top of my car! Once I cleaned the hood, I sat on top of that to clean the windshield, and so on and so forth. I guess my neighbors decided to help me out because I kept pushing it too their side after they cleaned (totally not on purpose, but they saw me struggling).

Then, the woman of my neighbor's house (because she came out fussing in their language and they stopped shoveling) said to me "are you the girl from upstairs?" I said, "Yes". Now, I should have asked her to clarify which one because there are 3 of us in separate units. I am hoping I am the right one because she made them help me!!! PRAISE THE LORD!!! I could have shouted right then, but I didn't want to scare them away! In the words of J Moss..."There's a praise on the inside!"

In anycase, now that my church service is over, the pastor (God himself delivered this message) made these three points:

1. When God is in control, everything works out best! None of us could have prevented the storm from occuring but all of us can help each other get through it! Sometimes, the only time we will even consider helping a neighbor, is when God has taken everything out of hands (we call it nature and/or natural diseasters).

2. When you express Godliness to those who either don't know or don't believe, they will express God's love back to you and not even know it!!! I guess I am known as "that girl" in my building. She gives everyone Christmas cards and prays over their doors at Easter. Yes, that girl. Who tried to give a neighbor a jump and drive him to the store, yet her car is still covered in snow. Yes. That girl. When your heart is full of God's Love, and you are righteous before God, He pours compassion into the hearts of others (believers and non-believers alike) to express the same towards you.

3. God doesn't expect anything but a Thank You and obedience! After my car was mobile and clean (more so than on an average day), I tried to assist my neighbors in cleaning their cars. But they refused and said, "Go get warm". So here I am....on the internet...in my warm home (PRAISE The LORD!).
All those who have an ear, let them hear!
I am so grateful. Can you all pray for my neighbors?

Well, that is my adventure in Snows Church, VA!!

God Bless.

Parker Flats is Snowed Out Too!

I could barely get out the door because there is so much snow piled up! Then, I practically slid down the steps. The call box is frozen...but it still works.

Even the DC firetrucks are getting stuck in the snow!

It took the neighborhood and another fire truck to get them free.

Ohhh My! I saw pavement and people!

Dude where's my car????

Oh my!!

So those people I live with decided to go to thier new house this weekend and took all the snow shovels with them!....now how am I suppose to get out the house with no snow shovel!?!? SMH
